Join Rhod Gilbert for a special trek to Nepal for Velindre Cancer Centre
Following a very successful trek through Peru to the lost Inca City of Machu Picchu last September, comedian Rhod Gilbert will once again be pulling on his trekking boots as he prepares for his next challenge, a 5 day hike through the Helambu region of Nepal – and you could join him!
Taking place in February 2019 the stunning ancient kingdom of Nepal is home to some of the world’s highest mountains.
The trek will once again raise funds for Wales’ premier Cancer Centre, Velindre where Rhod is a Paton. “Following hugely successful treks up Mount Kilimanjaro through Patagonia and to Machu Picchu in Peru, I am now preparing for my next challenge: a 5 day hike through the Helambu region of Nepal.
Exactly one year today on 9 February, I’ll once again be leading a trek in aid of Velindre Cancer Centre – and you can join me. Collectively, we have managed to raise over a million pounds so far and we’ve had an absolute ball along the way. A hard ball, but a ball is a ball, that’s what I always say. If I can do it, anyone can!”

The charm of Nepal is that it is largely without roads, and access is limited to ancient trails linking isolated villages where life and customs have changed little over centuries. Only on foot can you discover the true nature of the country. The trek through the foothills of Helambu is stunningly picturesque with the peaks of the Jugal and Langtang Himals offering a very impressive backdrop to what is a charmingly unspoilt and un-trekked area.
