Cambodia Trek Raises £150,806.96
This incredible and inspirational group have completed their Cambodia Trek this month. We are immensely proud of them as they have all worked so hard in raising an unbelievable £150,806.69 in aid of Velindre Cancer Centre Fundraising. The trek was organised by Tracey Davies and Emily Davies, who worked hard to make this event happen!
Here’s Tracey’s story about her experience;
“The trek was over 6 days walking up to 8 hr’s a day in 38 degree heat. Being thrown into the Cambodia way of living was a shock to the system but we took it all in our stride due to the special group of people who took part…they respected the culture and did not once complain.
The trek was more special to me as I did it along side my amazing daughter in law Emily and I knew what the experience would do for her alone: she worked hard on the fundraising and excelled on the trek. I saw Emily and Ffion (19) grow thoughout the week and emerge into different women from what we saw and experienced. It filled us both with pride knowing what the both of us acheived and who it would be helping: at times we felt very overwhelmed.
Also to trek alongside Alison Withey, whom herself has been a Velindre patient really made the trek poignant for us both ..she spoke to Emily and I about her treatment and how the treks help her come to terms with what happened and how it will help her deal with it in the future.
More than that is the support our family, especially the hubsters give, they too now can see what we are achieving and who it will be helping. As you know our own close family members have been treated by Velindre and really owe their lives to them: their treatment was second to none.”
We are so proud of the whole team and a special thanks to everyone who supported them in their fundraising!
